Ōiwi Book Club is a literary social club founded in February 2026 that centers Native Hawaiian voices, stories, history, culture, language, and place. We read books by Native Hawaiian authors and Hawaiʻi-based stories across fiction, nonfiction, memoir, history, culture, and contemporary literature. Our mission is to create a welcoming space where readers can connect through stories rooted in Hawaiʻi while supporting Native Hawaiian authors and storytelling.

We gather virtually once a month via Zoom and host occasional in-person meetups on Maui, reading in 8-week cycles. Over time, we envision Ōiwi Book Club becoming a digital hub where readers can discover books, participate in discussions, attend author events, purchase book club products, access reading resources, and connect with a growing community of readers across Hawaiʻi and the diaspora.
